What it's all about
I have always been captivated by dancer's and what they can do. So what better way to indulge my obsession and start a Project that celebrates just how amazing they are. So the Kal Dance Project was born. 12 months with a different theme each month using our gorgeous Kalgoorlie Goldfields dancers as models. The themes can be anything at all and I am sure will test my creativity once the obvious themes have been explored.
I welcome any suggestions of themes that you would like to see us try. Although I am just a girl and her camera without a lot of fancy equipment (a girl can dream!) we will give it a red hot go!
The themes are announced for the following month on the first of the month before on my Facebook and Instagram pages.
November - Nature
Kalgoorlie has so many beautiful locations but I really was drawn to the Rustic feel of the two up shed so that was our location for this shoot. My gorgeous model Hayley was kind enough to do her thing over and over again. Even going above and beyond with the hard rocks underfoot, sun in her eyes and staying later and braving the horde's of mosquitos so that we could try out some silhouette shots once the sun had gone down. An absolute champion!
Hayley's Mum got in on the action and helped out as phone videographer, dancer stabilizer, and lighting technician. But that's just mum's for you isn't it. Jacks of all trades and masters of well... probably several lol
Dance photography is something that I have become very passionate about since starting this project. The fact that dancer's can communicate a mood or a tone with just their body is a photographers dream! I love it!
