Now that is not to say that these wonderful ladies don't have great technique because they are all amazing dancers. But what I admire most about them is their passion for what they do. The effort and sacrifice that goes into being a dancer is just something that I find extremely inspiring.

What it's all about


I have always been captivated by dancer's and what they can do. So what better way to indulge my (now not so secret) obsession and start a Project that celebrates just how amazing they are. So the Kal Dance Project was born. 12 months with a different theme each month using our gorgeous Kalgoorlie Goldfields dancers as models. The themes can be anything at all and I am sure will test my creativity once the obvious themes have been explored.


I welcome any suggestions of themes that you would like to see us try. Although I am just a girl and her camera without a lot of fancy equipment (a girl can dream!) we will give it a red hot go!


The themes are announced for the following month on the first of the month before on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

October -Urban/Street


The first theme for the Kal Dance Project is Urban/Street. Having moved to Kalgoorlie from Darwin in June 2021 the first thing I noticed here was the amazing buildings! They are just gorgeous and perfect for a photoshoot.

The idea behind the Kal Dance Project is to celebrate our local dancers. The incredible dedication and work that they put into their craft is beyond words. Dancers know how to talk without saying a word and this is something that I have always been captivated with. Especially because I so clearly lack the ability myself.

This month I was so incredibly lucky to have some amazing young ladies to participate and below are some of my favourites from this particular theme.


One more time... Is never one more time!


I'm sure the ladies were sick of hearing me say one more time over and over again until we ran out of light. But they were absolute legends who took it all in their stride.

Great things never come from comfort zones


Predominantly I have been a family and lifestyle photographer of newborns. However I feel that we as creatives need to step outside of our comfort zones in order to grow. I have had so much fun challenging myself to use only natural light and to be able to capture movement and the amazingness of these gorgeous ladies.
